Object: Typescript on cellulose paper with manuscript signature

Condition:

• sharp folding creases whereby the upper right crease is torn
• minor surface dirt
• Slight acidification and discolouring
• grease stain towards the lower left
• minor iron stains

Object is too fragile to handle it unsupported. To make it fit for handling and preserve it for the future conservation is required.

Conservation

• Dryclean with latex cleaning powder
• Grease stain reduction with hexane
• Wash by immersion in a water bath, deacidify with calcium bicarbonate
• Tear repair and crease reinforcement with Kozo tissue paper and wheat starch paste
• Flatten and leave to dry between wool felts
• Store in protective Mylar enclosure
