Damage
The pencil drawing has been framed at some stage between an acidic mount and mat, hence the dark brown edges with just a clearer hint alongside that. Call it 'acidic mount discolouring'.
Treatment:
- Dryclean with brush
- First wash and deacidification by immersion - this will remove the brown discolouration to certain extent
- Solar or peroxide bleaching - to further reduce discolouring - good but not satisfactory reduction of browning
- Second wash and deacidification by immersion
- Chlorine bleach to further reduce browning
- Third wash and deacidification by immersion
- Leave to dry under weight
